Ms. Barkwell-Blake earned her Bachelor of Laws from UBC and then articled with Howard Smith & Company in 2000. During her Articles, she spent most of her time doing Criminal Law work for her principal, Howard Smith who is both a personal injuries lawyer and criminal defence counsel.
After Ms. Barkwell-Blake was called to the British Columbia Bar on March 23, 2001, she practiced law for Howard Smith & Company primarily doing Personal Injury civil plaintiff’s work until the end of 2004.
From 2005 until 2014, Ms. Barkwell-Blake focused on her family.
Ms. Barkwell-Blake has now returned to the legal field, working in a legal assistant capacity until the Law Society of British Columbia re-admits her as a Lawyer once again. In the meantime, she works closely with Howard Smith and the other Lawyers in this law firm exclusively in the field of personal injuries.
